ACTING IN MUSICAL THEATRE
Specializing in Musical Theatre Acting and Scenes, I will guide my students through the material and digging deep into the character and emotional commitment required. Providing the tools to not only accomplish the song or scene, but to be able to grow and discover in the moment. It’s the process of creating the product and how to apply that to a full length musical, full song/monologue, and your 16-bar cut. Acting is essential in every aspect of the craft of Musical theatre.
SONG & SCENE STUDY
In this private or group class we will dive into the reasoning behind why the character is written for the musical stage. Exploring the nuances and hidden given circumstances that will make your moments pop with excitement, truth, and bazazz. Like a dancer goes back to the barre, we will start from the basics to make sure we have the tools to succeed in modern day contemporary or golden age Musical Theatre.
AUDITION AND COLLEGE PACKAGE PREP
Auditioning is the job; booking is the vacation. This study will start with the psychological process of getting the audition and seeing it through to final callbacks and getting the offer.
Breaking down your book and getting the correct rep that not only you like but, the people on the other side of the table will love. Finding the joy in auditioning by seeing it as another opportunity to do what you love - PERFORM.
BFA Musical Theatre College auditions are a beast all on their own. I will help navigate the program requirements and either help selecting the material or coaching your pre-existing package. Parents, I got into CCM in 2005, I’ve been there and can help. It doesn't need to be as overwhelming as it seems. Breaking down what you need to show to get into the program of your dreams.
CABARET/ SOLO SHOW CREATION
Cabaret can be more than a Liza Minnelli song or a self-indulgent evening of selections from your book. This is a process I have helped and directed many people through and it’s the most rewarding. Being given the stage to tell your story through song and limited dialog is the greatest thrill a performer can have. Cabaret is growing and evolving but paying homage to the past greats will help us navigate how you want to accomplish your solo show. From song selection and order, to act as a "show doctor" to a set list from your previous efforts, this is my bread and butter. Let’s have fun making you the star of the night!
